Currents of Madness
Supported above Maergul Lake by hundreds of wood and stone pillars, Maergul Town Proper is a necessary waypoint between Lake Heran and the coast. The town was once fully on the coast but when the town found trade more profitable that fishing it moved itself onto the water to grant more room to dock. The townsfolk are expert navigators of the dangerous mountain waterways which surround the lake.
But as we enter the scene Maergul Town is in dire straights. It is a slow time for trade in the mountains. To make matters worse the mountains endured an especially heavy winter causing flooding which threatens both the traders of the region the town itself and makes the rapids near impossible to traverse. The town has been forced to ration all goods from fishhooks to bread and unless something changes soon, the Town on Timber could very easily become an empty shell of it’s once vibrant self.
